AFK aksjonerte i London med en ny versjon av Assange-bildet. “Assange is being held in isolation, his health is deteriorating and until just last week, he has been denied access to his legal documents. This essentially denies him of his basic rights and is an obstruction to the legal proceedings of his case.”
Den kjente gatekunstneren AFK deltok i den spontane gruppen av internasjonale kunstnere som ga sin støtte til Julian Assange i London, da den britiske domstolen mandag 21. oktober vurderte utleveringen hans til USA, hvor han risikerer 175 år i fengsel.
AFK hadde med seg en ny versjon av bildet «The Persecution», som kom opp i Bergen langfredag 19. april. Nøyaktig et halvt år senere kommer den nye versjonen med et blodig britisk og amerikansk flagg i bakgrunnen. Flere nye navn på varslere som er tiltalt under «The Espionage Act» er skrevet inn i det nye bildet.
Westminster Magistrates’ Court avslo Assange ønske om utsettelse av utleveringssaken. AFK er sterkt indignert på Assange’ vegne. AFK sier:
“Assange is being held in isolation, his health is deteriorating and until just last week, he has been denied access to his legal documents. This essentially denies him of his basic rights and is an obstruction to the legal proceedings of his case.
Furthermore, the bombshell reports from El Paîs reveal that, through a Spanish security firm, the CIA has been spying on Julian and his visitors (including lawyers, doctors and family) for years in the Ecuadorian Embassy. These revelations add a whole new, legally complex and voluminous dimension to his case that requires significantly more time to work on. Judge Baraister completely ignored these concerns and is forcing him to defend himself in the same time frame none-the-less.”
